Welcome to our newest Rare Bear Baby!
On the 25th of August, just after 7:30 am, the Rare Bear ladies WhatsApp group lit up with messages of excitement! Angeline – one of the ladies who crochets for the project – had just given birth to a baby boy in Progeny’s shack. Angeline (whose partner left her when she told him she was pregnant), went into labour around 3am and stumbled her way to Progeny’s room in the dark to ask for help. After trying unsuccessfully to call an ambulance, and with the help of 3 ladies in the community Angeline gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (he has appropriately been called Siyabonga).
The room where Angeline gave birth.
The delivery team, community nurses, and newborn Siyabonga.
Didi was able to meet him an hour after he was born and 2 community nurses had just checked that everything was ok with baby and mom, before she dropped Angeline and babe off at Rahima Moosa causality where she and babe will be thoroughly checked out.
While driving to the hospital she chatted to Angeline and asked her what she still needs for Siyabonga. “Nappies and clothes “ was her answer.
If anyone would like to donate baby clothes or nappies we would so appreciate it . You can drop them off at the Rare Diseases South Africa NPO 120-991 offices in Broadacres:  Rare Diseases SA, Stratford Office Park, Block 7, Ground Floor, Valley Road.
The rare disease contact cell number to send any messages to regarding this is 072 476 7552 or email hello@rarebearproject.org
